4 Day Trip - Fes to Desert, Gorges and to Marrakesh

Day 1:  Fes to Merzouga Desert

Pickup from your riad at 8 am and travel south through the Cedar forest with its native monkeys. After lunch in Middelt, Morocco’s apple capital, drive pass by the Middle Atlas Tizi n’Telghmt pass and Ziz Valley with its Palm groves and Gorges. There will be a stop in Arfoud, famous for its fossils, followed by a camel ride to the middle of the Sahara Merzouga sand dunes camp. The evening will feature Berber hospitality around a campfire before settling in the tent.

 

Day 2: Merzouga Desert to Dades Gorges

The day will begin with a camel ride, then travel to the Berber village Rissani and a visit to the Todgha Gorges.  After lunch at a local restaurant with panoramic views, there will be time to explore the Todgha Valley and oasis. Overnight accommodation will be in Dades Gorges.

 

Day 3: Dades Gorges to Ouarzazate

After breakfast there will be opportunity to explore Dades Gorges and the Valley. Then its offroading along the Boutaghrar area, stopping to visit a Berber nomad family living in caves.  Afterwards its onto the Rose Valley and a visit to local rose water distillery. Then you travel west to reach Skoura oasis and visit the exquisitely restored Amridil Kasbah. Overnight accomodation will be in Ouarzazate.

 

Day 4:  Ouarzazate  to Marrakesh

After breakfast, travel north to visit the UNESCO protected Ait Ben Haddo Kasbah.  Then follow the ancient caravan route from Timbuktu through the Ounila Valley to Kasbah Telouet.  After lunch you will travel north through the High Atlas mountains to pass by the highest pass of Tizi n Tichka, view Berber villages with opportunities for splendid panoramic pictures. Arrival to Marrakesh will be in late afternoon.
