3 Day Trip - Marrakesh to Merzouga Desert
Day 1: Marrakesh to Dades Gorges
Pickup from riad and travel south through Berber villages in the High Atlas Mountains. You will go through “Tizi n’ Tichka”, the highest road pass in Africa with opportunity for panoramic views and splendid photos.
Then you will follow the ancient caravan route from Timbuktu to Telouet, one of Morocco’s most historical Kasbahs. Lunch in a local restaurant will be followed by a visit to Ait Ben Haddo, the UNESCO protected Kasbah seen in many films and television series including the popular Game of Thrones.
Later you will pass Ouarzazate’s African Hollywood Studios, visit the Skoura Oasis and the exquisitely restored Amridil Kashah. The day continues driving through the Rose Valley, including a visit to the local distillery producing rosewater. Dinner and accommodation will be in a quaint riad in Dades Gorges.
Day 2: Dades Gorges to Merzouga Desert
After breakfast you will explore the famous Dades Mountains and Gorges then onto the other famous Todgha Gorges with the opportunity to walk and explore the Todgha Valley.
Lunch will be in the ancient Berber village Rissani, followed by camel riding to the camp in the middle of Sahara’s Merzouga sand dunes, sandboarding, seeing a glorious desert sunset and enjoying Berber hospitality including music and campfire before settling in your tent.
Day 3: Merzouga Desert to Marrakesh
Breakfast will be followed by a camel ride out of the sand dunes then the drive north, stopping for lunch in the Draa Valley, Morocco’s longest valley. Return to the Marrakesh riad will be in late afternoon.

Day 1: Marrakesh to Agdez
Pickup from riad at 8am, travel south through the High Atlas Mountains, passing Berber villages. The route will go through “Tizi n’ Tichka”, the highest road pass in Africa with opportunity for panoramic views and splendid photos.
Then you will follow the ancient caravan trail from Timbuktu to Telouet, one of Morocco’s most historical Kasbahs. Lunch in a local restaurant will be followed by a visit to Ait Ben Haddo, the UNESCO protected Kasbah seen in many films and television series including the popular Game of Thrones.
Travel will continue by the Anti Atlas mountains to the Draa Valley for dinner and overnight accommodation in a restored Kasbah in the Agdez Oasis.
Day 2: Agdez to Sahara Desert Chegaga Dunes
After breakfast you will explore the Draa Valley with ancient kasbahs and villages. There will be a stop to explore the ancient library in Tamgrout as well as visit a local potter producing ceramics using hand methods.
Lunch will be in M’Hamid, the last village on the edge of the Sahara Desert, followed by an off road experience through the Sahara desert and having Moroccan tea with a traditional Nomad family. After arriving at Chegaga Dunes, partaking in a camel ride, sandboarding, seeing a glorious desert sunset and enjoying Berber hospitality including music around a campfire you will settle in your tent.
Day 3: Chegaga Dunes to Marrakesh
After breakfast, you will off road to explore a Flat Desert and Rocky Desert as well as more dunes. Lunch will be in Taznakht, Morocco’s carpet capital. Return to Marrakesh riad by late afternoon.
